Awesome tone on this guy. Pentode input with excellent tremolo.
The filter can had been replaced with a can with MUCH larger-than-stock values. This does affect tone, especially in the preamp, but the real worry here was the 80µF rectifier reservoir value - which is more than double the max capacitance rating of the 5Y3GT rectifier tube.
I reverted the power supply to stock, rewired the 3-prong AC cord for improved safety, replaced the rest of the electrolytic capacitors, and replaced some very leaky capacitors in the preamp (which I hated to do with the old Astrons, but they were causing problems so it had to be done).
