The owner of this 1974 Super Lead wanted a lot more distortion, but still wanted it to sound like a Marshall.
A pre-phase inverter master volume had already been added to the front panel, so I switched it over to a post-phase inverter volume circuit, and modified the preamp to resemble something like a hot-rodded JCM800. I also rewired the power switch and fuse for improved safety and added some tube/transformer protection features.
I'm really happy with how it turned out. Sounds just like a high-gain Marshall should. The two volume controls can be dialed in separately for more vintage/modern tones and all the inputs still function as advertised. Plus, the modifications are easily reversible if the owner should ever decide to sell it.
