Marshall DSL100

The JCM200 series have a couple design flaws - one of them is that the 4 and 8Ω output jacks are grounded through the switching contacts of the 16Ω jack.  This is a poor connection to begin with, but it can easily open up completely, usually while the amp is cranked and vibrating the cabinet - as though someone reached over and pulled out the speaker cord at the worst possible moment.

That's what happened to this amp.  Luckily, the flyback voltage only toasted a small capacitor and didn't take out something bigger like the output transformer.  I replaced the burnt cap and fixed the speaker jack design flaw.
