Super cool amp with a germanium transistor input stage operating at around 18V. This heat-sensitive transistor is positioned about 3 inches from the power tubes, but I did not experience any issues when burning it in.
This amp, being from England, had a 240V power transformer. Instead of replacing it, I just installed a big auto-transformer in the speaker cab to convert the mains voltage from 120V to 240V. I also overhauled the amp with new electrolytic capacitors etc. - and of course I completely rewired the fuse and power switch circuitry to safely accommodate the step up transformer.
The amp sounds fantastic with the old 10" Celestion speakers - nails that British pop tone.
